Designed by Frank Pennink and opened in 1969, the Old Course winds through ancient umbrella pines on a par-73 layout that underwent extensive renovation by Martin Hawtree. Portugal's strength lies less in a single global list than in the depth and variety of its championship courses, from Monte Rei and Oitavos Dunes to the World Golf Awards-winning Dunas and Torre courses at Terras da Comporta.
